"Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted."
-Matthew 5:11-12
"So then, my brothers, try even harder to make God's call and his choice of you a permanent experience; if you do so, you will never abandon your faith. In this way you will be given the right to enter the full Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
And so I will always remind you of these matters, even though you already know them and are firmly grounded in the truth you have received. I think it only right for me to stir up your memory of these matters as long as I'm still alive. I know that I shall soon put off this mortal body, as our Lord Jesus Christ plainly told me. I will do my best, then, to provide a way for you to remember these matters at all times after my death."
-2nd Peter 1:10-15
If a person takes the time to think things through, then the times, that we live in, make perfect sense. Often times, foundational truths are quickly accepted superficially, but aren't meditated on deeply. As a result, here is a common pattern of thinking for a lot of Christians.
-"The Devil is a liar"... check.
-"God is wiser than humans"... check.
-"No one knows the mind of God"... check.
These people start to live life, and then neglect what they just claimed and start to say the following:
-"Evolution is so popular. Maybe Genesis isn't literal."
-"If I ran the universe, bad things would never happen."
-"Why would a God of love allow bad things to happen?"
"Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that your fellow believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings. But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share his eternal glory in union with Christ, will himself perfect you and give you firmness, strength, and a sure foundation. To him be the power forever! Amen."
