The fact is that there is overwhelming evidence that supports what God has said. I showcase this in my article "Why Logic Fails". However, when a person starts to trust evidence more than God, that person is in deep trouble. It's a vulnerability that the Devil will certainly use.
When a person chooses to follow Christ, they shouldn't be surprised to encounter a difficult life. God was clear, and has told us that following him will be challenging, and not to be baffled when difficulty comes.
"My dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful test you are suffering, as though something unusual were happening to you. Rather be glad that you are sharing Christ's sufferings, so that you may be full of joy when his glory is revealed."
-1st Peter 4:12-13
"Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praises and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed."
-1st Peter 1:6-7
"Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate to hell is wide and the road that leads to it is easy, and there are many who travel it. But the gate to life is narrow and the way that leads to it is hard, and there are few people who find it."
-Matthew 7:13-14
As Christians, nothing that we see in this world is inconsistent or unexpected. Christians, and the Bible, have been under attack from the very beginning. We see it many times in the New Testament. Those who followed Jesus, back then, saw many types of opposition along with the spread of lies and deceit, and we are warned that it will only get worse before the end comes. For this reason, as Christians, we are encouraged to embrace truth tightly, and never let it go. We should never be surprised when the world rejects, and hates, what we believe. God already told us that this is going to happen to those who follow him.
"If the world hates you, just remember that it has hated me first. If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you as its own. But I chose you from this world, and you do not belong to it; that is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: 'No slave is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours too. But they will do all this to you because you are mine; for they do not know the one who sent me. They would not have been guilty of sin if I had not come and spoken to them; as it is, they no longer have any excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father also. They would not have been guilty of sin if I had not done among them the things that no one else ever did; as it is, they have seen what I did and they hate both me and my Father. This however was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: 'They hated me for no reason at all.'
The helper will come -- the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who comes from the Father. I will send him to you from the Father, and he will speak about me. And you too will speak about me, because you have been with me from the very beginning.
I have told you this, so that you will not give up your faith. You will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time will come when anyone who kills you will think that by doing this he is serving God. People will do these things to you because they have not known either the Father or me. But I have told you this, so that when the time comes for them to do these things, you will remember what I told you."
